Stripsody ProjectDuring this unit we are looking at the roles that symbols play in music. We are discovering that there are lots and lots of different symbols in music, ones that we expected and some that we didn't! One of our projects was looking at the "score" for a piece of music called Stripsody, by Cathy Berberian. It is a composition that is described as a comic strip rhapsody. The "score" is actually a comic strip and the performers look at the pictures and make the sounds implied. We had a lot of fun working on this project, and I would invite you to take a look at the performances on the class pages! Enjoy. Click here for 3AS - 3ER - 3HA - 3GK

We have had a great first week and a half of music classes. I’ve seen all my classes at least twice now, and we have been going over routines and agreements and things we need in the music room! I’ll be sending a few things home regarding music this year. The first will be Class Dojo login codes. I use Class Dojo to monitor behaviour and also to share pictures and videos of what is happening in the music room. Each class has their own login so that photos are shared only within that class and for parents with the access codes. Please join up so you can see what’s going on in the classroom!
I will also be sending information home on recorders and things they need in the music room. Each student needs a soprano recorder, and zipper top document pouch, 2 pencils and an eraser. Students who still have these from last year are all set! They just need to bring them to the next music class. New students will receive a letter from me about this and with some more information. Contact me if you have any questions or concerns! 2016-2017 I’m so excited to see all my new students this week. I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer and is ready to get back into the music room and make music! We have a lots of fun things to do this year! See you soon! |
